DESCRIPTION:Bob Headland will talk about the history\, effects\, and curre
 nt circumstances of exotic mammals in the Antarctic. Twenty-four species h
 ave been introduced to the peri-Antarctic islands and continent of Antarct
 ica during over two centuries\, with varying consequences. From the late 1
 900s eradication programmes have eliminated many species and regulations h
 ave been enacted to prevent new introductions. Currently major campaigns a
 re being undertaken in South Georgia and Macquarie Island ('deratication')
 .
