DESCRIPTION:We investigate the accuracy of tracer transport algorithms in 
 dynamical cores of weather and climate models using prescribed velocity te
 st cases. The tests make use of three-dimensional flow\, with the focus on
  extreme deformation\, horizontal-vertical coupling\, and flow in the pres
 ence of orography. These tests highlight common problems associated with a
 dvection in dynamical cores. Standard error measures allow us to assess co
 nvergence rates\, monotonicity\, and the effects of the diffusion mechanis
 ms in tracer transport algorithms. We will present results form the 2012 D
 ynamical Core Model Intercomparison Project (DCMIP) workshop.\n
