DESCRIPTION:Gayle Davis is Wellcome Trust Lecturer in History of Medicine 
 at the University of Edinburgh. She is the author\, among other works\, of
  _'The Cruel Madness of Love': Sex\, Syphilis and Psychiatry in Scotland\,
  1880-1930_ (2008) and co-author of _The Sexual State: Sexuality and Scott
 ish Governance\, 1950-80_ (2012).\n\nThe talk will preview research in a p
 roject on the history of reproductive health\, clinical practice and polic
 y-making in Scotland after World War II\, using as case studies abortion\,
  contraception and infertility.
