DESCRIPTION:Since the onset of the current economic crisis\, more and more
  people\, from outside and inside the discipline\, have begun to reach the
  same conclusion: economics has failed. If they're right (hint: they are)\
 , what's the alternative? In this talk I will give an introduction to econ
 ophysics - a scientific approach to the study of financial markets. How di
 d it start? What does it involve? What does it do right? What does it do w
 rong? And most importantly\, why is it the only way to properly understand
  financial systems? I will also outline some of my own research in this ar
