DESCRIPTION:A review of the current astronomical adaptive optics projects
at the Centre for Advanced Instrumentation will be presented. EAGLE is a
candidate multi-object spectrograph for the European Extremely Large Teles
cope. Its purpose is to utilise a relatively new form of AO\, open-loop m
ulti-object AO\, which allows access to the full-field of the ELT at high-
 spatial resolution. CANARY\, recently on-sky at the WHT\, La Palma\, is a
n open-loop AO demonstrator which has helped pioneer this form of AO\, and
in its current configuration uses laser guide stars to tomographically re
construct and then correct for the wavefront in an arbitrary direction. C
HOUGH is instead a more precise but narrow field addition that enables CAN
ARY for high-order AO for visible wavelength observations\, and investigat
ing novel ideas for science and instrumentation.\n
