DESCRIPTION:Tom Rippin (CEO\, On Purpose) will give an introduction to Soc
 ial Enterprise\, revealing the meaning behind this latest buzzword and exp
 laining how the sector works and the challenges it faces at present.\n\n
 ‘Real-life’ successful social entrepreneurs and what they have accompl
 ished will be showcased in Tom’s explanation of On Purpose’s contribut
 ion to Social Enterprise. After a 30min presentation there will be a chanc
 e for discussion and opportunity to mingle over drinks & nibbles with Tom\
 , the Beyond Profit Committee and other socially-minded people in Cambridg

 nisation running one-year\, full time leadership programmes with work plac
 ements\, training and mentoring for Social Entrepreneurs in-training. Tom 
 transitioned into the Social Enterprise space after years researching canc
 er and then at McKinsey & Co. He has advised the CEO of Comic Relief on pr
 ivate sector matters and also worked at (RED)\, the business founded by Bo
 no and Bobby Shriver to help eliminate AIDS in Africa\, where he was Manag
 ing Director for Europe and Director of Business Development for (RED) Int
 ernational. As well as running On Purpose\, Tom is the Chairman of Spice\,
  and a non-executive director at the Shaftesbury Partnership. Tom’s expe
 rience in the sector means this is a fantastic opportunity to gain solid g
 roundwork knowledge on Social Enterprise and have your questions answered.
