l ecology - David Orton\, Department of Archaeology\, University of Cambri

DESCRIPTION:Understanding trajectories of change is crucial for marine con
servation and management\, but systematic data typically only reach back a
few decades. Fish bones from archaeological sites represent a rich source
of longer-term diachronic data on past populations\, on human exploitatio
n\, and - crucially - on the relationship between the two. This talk showc
ases some of the types of data that can be drawn from archaeological remai
ns\, and discusses their potential and limitations.
