DESCRIPTION:The holographic description of field theories with Lifshitz sy
 mmetry is an interesting extension of AdS/CFT\, which may have application
 s to condensed matter theory. By the standard gauge/gravity duality\, defo
 rming the boundary conditions in the bulk modifies the dual field theory b
 y adding sources of the appropriate operators. Here we will discuss what a
 re the allowed boundary conditions for scalar fields\, and argue that even
  some normalizable modes can produce severe instabilities.
