DESCRIPTION:Single electron devices have long been under development for u
se in electrical metrology. Beyond transporting electrical charge\, there
are other purposes to which these devices may be put\, such as enabling th
e realisation of solid-state equivalents of experiments in quantum optics.
To design these experiments we need to know much more about the electrons
emitted by our single-electron source. How well-defined is their energy a
nd emission time? How strongly do they interact with the environment? We h
ave developed a way of answering these questions\, as well as novel ways o
f manipulating the path taken by electrons.
