DESCRIPTION:I will discuss recent progress in understanding higher spin bl
 ack holes and their interactions with scalar fields\, in the context of Va
 siliev's 3d theory of higher spin gravity. This is relevant for the hologr
 aphic duality with a certain class of 2d minimal model CFTs\, proposed by 
 Gaberdiel and Gopakumar. Despite unusual aspects of causality in higher sp
 in gravity\, the behavior of scalar boundary correlators in the black hole
  background appears consistent with a conventional black hole interpretati
 on. \n
