DESCRIPTION:Gestural interaction is gaining momentum both in the research 
 world and in commercial applications\, promising to change the face of com
 puting in the same way that multi-touch interaction did in the last decade
 . In this talk\, we will discuss the nature of this transformation: how ne
 w domains of computing are opening up\, how gestural languages are evolvin
 g\, and how breakthroughs in technology are enabling an innovative interac
 tion paradigm. We will argue that such a paradigm does not suggest we will
  replace other forms of input with gesture\, but rather that it will add t
 o the rich palette of interaction available to users\, designers and devel
 opers of new technologies. We also examine the ways in which gesture can b
 e combined with more established input techniques (such as keyboard and mo
 use and multi-touch) and speculate as to how it might ultimately combine w
 ith other\, newer forms of interaction.
