DESCRIPTION:What makes people kind? What makes people happy? These timeles
 s questions have inspired furious debate across disciplines\, but clear an
 swers remain elusive. In this talk\, Dr Alex Kogan will present emerging e
 vidence in the psychological study of kindness and well-being\, offering i
 nsights from a perspective that aims to integrate biological\, psychologic
 al\, and cultural factors in understanding (a) the antecedents and (b) the
  consequences of kindness and well-being. In particular\, Dr Kogan will pr
 esent findings focused on the role of the oxytocin and vagal systems\, the
  effects of prosocial motivation\, and the role of cultural factors tied t
 o uncertainty avoidance\, using data collected in the laboratory\, daily l
 ife\, and mass surveys.
