DESCRIPTION:Can a real fluid flow without friction? Following the conject
ure that\nquantum mechanics imposes a universal lower bound on the shear\n
viscosity\, this question is being studied intensively in several\nfields
of physics ranging from quark-gluon plasmas to ultracold atomic\ngases. I
will review the origin of this bound and present results for\nthe shear v
iscosity of strongly interacting Fermi gases. Motivated by\na recent expe
riment with spin-polarized clouds of atoms\, I will\ndiscuss the prospect
of a quantum bound for spin transport.
