DESCRIPTION:Ever wondered... What does it take to have a paper published i
n a Nature journal? What are the factors determining whether a paper is ac
cepted or rejected? Who handles your paper and what sort of criteria do th
ey apply? This talk aims to demystifying editorial decisions and provide i
nsight into the peer-review process. After a brief outline of the differen
ces between the various Nature titles\, I will describe how an editor reac
hes a first decision on a manuscript\, how the subsequent external peer-re
view is handled\, and how a paper is eventually published. The talk will h
opefully help you as authors in the preparation of your manuscript for sub
mission to Nature journals\, and as reviewers in clarifying how your valua
ble input enters the editorial decision. Questions are more than welcome!
