DESCRIPTION:The cell is a highly crowded environment that is made up of di
 fferent kinds of biomolecules such as proteins\, nucleic acids and metabol
 ites. How can one understand such a complicated system as a whole? In this
  lecture\, I will introduce the concept of complex networks. I will then d
 iscuss some of the work in my laboratory and highlight the insights gained
  into the organisation of biological systems at different scales (from ang
 stroms to nanometer to micrometer).
