SUMMARY:The logic and variation in genomic regulatory networks - Mikhail S
 pivakov (Babraham Institute)
DTSTART:20130304T160000Z
DTEND:20130304T170000Z
UID:TALK42980@talks.cam.ac.uk
CONTACT:Florian Markowetz
DESCRIPTION:In the first part of the talk\, I will present genome-wide ana
lyses of cardiac regulatory regions in Drosophila that have led to a new m
odel of enhancer organisation and revealed some unexpected implications of
developmental history. I will then address the properties of regulatory s
equence variation in Drosophila and humans\, with a particular emphasis on
how its potentially deleterious effects may be buffered to ensure coheren
t transcriptional outputs. Finally\, I will show how these research themes
will be developed in my new research group at Babraham Institute that wil
l focus on mammalian gene regulation and ageing.
