DESCRIPTION:2010\, we have  succeeded in the synthesis of substituted diaz
 a- and tetraaza¬pentacenes as well as in the synthesis of structurally si
 milar tetraaza- and hexaazahexacenes. Most of these materials are more sta
 ble than similar pentacenes and hexacenes. The symmetrical tetraazapentace
 ne has been investigated as electron transporting material in thin film tr
 ansistors demonstrating high mobilites of up to 3.3 cm2/Vs. Our Pd-catalyz
 ed synthesis of large azaacenes has made multiple new structural motifs no
 w easily accessible.
