DESCRIPTION:Our computers are getting wider\, not faster. Nowadays\, to ma
ke our programs more efficient\, we have to make them use more processors.
Haskell is at the leading edge of research into parallel programming lang
uages\, and I'd like to use this talk to explore some of the ways in which
we're making it easier to program parallel computers. The talk will cover
two areas: parallel programming models (what the programmer writes)\, and
runtime technology (how the system implements parallelism).\n\nAdmission
free to CUCaTS members\, £2 otherwise. Membership may also be bought at t
he door. As usual refreshments will be served 15 minutes before the start
 of the talk.
