DESCRIPTION:Richard Weston from Manufacturing Modeling Ltd would like to s
hare his original and recent thoughts on modeling manufacturing architectu
res. Richard used to be a founder and director of Manufacturing System Int
egration (MSI) Research Institute in Loughborough University. Now he is Ma
naging Director of Manufacturing Modeling Ltd and a consultant professor i
n Cranfield University (his CV is enclosed).\n\nIn his talk Richard will d
escribe his latest ideas on modeling manufacturing architectures which hav
e emerged from his supervising many PhD studies and playing & supporting s
enior management roles in large and small businesses. He will show how key
properties of manufacturing architectures can be modeled\, explicitly and
coherently\, in support of multiple level of abstraction simulation model
ing. By such means virtual\ntesting of the reachable behaviours of manufac
turing architectures is facilitated so that sponsoring manufacturing enter
prises have already realised significant Improvements to the design and op
eration of their people\, IT and machine systems. Richard’s main reason
for giving this talk is to seek future collaboration with like minded rese
 archers.
