DESCRIPTION:The Arctic humanities are a broad and developing field\, encom
 passing subjects from the social impact of environmental change to the use
  of indigenous mapping techniques in western geographical knowledge. Takin
 g a broad historical and circumpolar perspective\, this seminar series exp
 lores the encounters and engagements between different actors\, communitie
 s\, and systems of knowledge in the Arctic. How do historical encounters a
 nd passages continue to shape issues of contemporary governance in the pol
 ar regions? This seminar series showcases the interdisciplinary strengths 
 of SPRI while also engaging with the current research of visiting and invi
 ted scholars.
