 he University of Cambridge (Chemistry Department_ founded an international
  company that is making a difference to the lives of people all over the W
 orld.\n\nProfessor Balasubramanian co-invented Solexa Sequencing\, a super
 -fast way to decode and characterise DNA. Using a microchip system\, Solex
 a Sequencing (now part of Illumina sequencing) can decode billions of DNA 
 fragments at the same time. This has transformed bioscience by speeding up
  the reading of a human genome by around a million times.\n\nThanks to Sol
 exa Sequencing\, personalised medicine is a step closer\; it will soon be 
 possible to make clinical decisions based on the actual genetic informatio
