DESCRIPTION:Debian is a free distribution of the GNU/Linux operating syste
 m\, created and maintained by a group of volunteers. At present\, there ar
 e about 950 developers contributing to Debian\, yet less than 1% of these 
 developers are women. The Debian Women Project was started in 2004\, to en
 courage more women to participate in Debian development\, and to provide a
  forum for discussion of issues related to women in free software. In this
  talk\, I will give a brief overview of Debian as a whole\, before introdu
 cing the background and aims of the Debian Women Project. I will also disc
 uss the project's achievements so far\, and plans for the future.
