DESCRIPTION:Higher codimension minimal surfaces have very different regula
 rity properties with respect to hypersurfaces. Their investigation gives r
 ise to new\, challenging analytical issues in the regularity theory of sys
 tems of nonlinear partial differential equations.\nIn this talk I will pre
 sent a new proof of Almgren's partial regularity of higher codimension are
 a minimizing currents\, stating they are in fact smooth submanifolds up to
  a singular set of codimension at least 2. This is joint work with C. De L
 ellis (University of Zurich).
