DESCRIPTION:Networks and other forms of "big data" present practical and t
heoretical challenges to modern statistics. From Facebook's graph search
to large-scale recommender systems like Amazon's\, how do we model mathema
tical objects that describe relationships and interactions rather than poi
nts in space? In this talk I will share research perspectives on this que
stion and its implications for modern mathematics\, statistics\, and compu
ting\, from the points of view of both academic researchers and industrial
  users.\n
