DESCRIPTION:The Rainbow group has contributed a lot to this subject in the
past five \nyears\, and it seems appropriate to let the rest of the group
know what \nhas been done and what is going on at the moment. \n\nThe tal
k will cover a bit of introduction and history\, and then address \nwhat t
he group has done\, what we are currently addressing\, and what the \nmain
remaining challenges are. \n\nAlthough there is a lot of maths under the
bonnet\, this will be exposed \nonly on demand. A key idea is that subdivi
sion is actually about the \nHCI problem of letting a shape designer (anim
 ator\, car stylist ...) \nexpress conveniently to the computer a precise d
escription of the shape \nin mind (even though what is in mind is not very
  precise). \n
