DESCRIPTION:Positron annihilation is perhaps one of the less well-known me
thods for measuring the Fermi surface. In this talk\, I will explain how o
ne can determine the Fermi surface topology of a metallic system using pos
itrons\, highlighting some of its advantages as well as its limitations. I
will focus on materials where other probes (such as quantum oscillatory t
echniques or ARPES) have not been so successful\, as well as materials whe
re the positron can provide unique information by virtue of where it choos
es to annihilate.\nI will describe some recent measurements in the ferrom
 agnetic shape-memory alloy Ni$_{2}$MnGa and in MnSi.\n
