ermal Comfort Prediction - Prof. Malcolm Cook\,Professor of Building Perfo
 rmance Analysis\,Loughborough University\, Leicestershire\, LE11 3TU

DESCRIPTION:Malcolm’s presentation will cover both his research and cons
ultancy activities\, with a particular focus on natural ventilation and pa
ssive cooling strategies\, and the role computer simulation can play in th
e design process. Malcolm will talk about the simulation techniques employ
ed\, as well as the innovative passive design principles that have informe
d energy efficient building solutions in the UK and USA. He will also pres
ent some of the latest research in his group on Large Eddy Simulation (LES
) of unsteady flows in naturally ventilated buildings and the development
of a new simulation system which couples CFD with a model of human thermop
 hysiology and thermal comfort.
