DESCRIPTION:Child well-being is currently measured by governments\, NGOs\,
academics and local authorities. But curiously there are no explicit theo
ries of what is purportedly being measured. This is in contrast with adult
well-being of which there are many well-developed theories. In this talk
I attempt to explain why and to correct the situation. The work presented
is in collaboration with Professor Ramesh Raghavan\, a public health scien
tist at the Washington University in St Louis.
