  Bunn has 20 years of experience in the field of sustainability in the bui
 lt environment.  Roderic currently works as a BSRIA principal consultant\,
  undertaking building performance evaluations with a specialist knowledge 
 of school buildings. He is also a Building Performance Evaluator for the T
 echnology Strategy Board.  He is a Manager of the Soft Landings initiative
 \, and convenor of the BSRIA Soft Landings User Group\, as well as a regul
 ar lecturer on Soft Landings and post occupancy evaluation. He conducts en
 ergy surveys using CIBSE TM22\, and occupant surveys using the Building Us
 er Studies occupant survey system. \n\n\n*Abstract:*\nAny attempt to mitig
 ate carbon emissions in the existing building stock must maximise the pote
 ntial for savings in operational energy use. It is critical to consider th
 e role that behaviour\, management\, and control strategies can play when 
 exploring retrofit options.\nSystems and technologies that rely on complex
  automation to achieve savings often fail because practice doesn’t mirro
 r design theory. This seminar will focus on the often overlooked fundament
 als of control system design and discuss the principles for delivering sav
 ings through simple and effective building control and behavioural strateg
 ies.\n
