DESCRIPTION:This will discuss the issues within our fulfilment business wi
th regard to decision making when faced with a large number of variables.
Often it is not possible to create an optimal solution\, and even if it we
re it is not practical to compute it in a fast changing environment. We ar
e looking for ways in which we can increase productivity by making adaptiv
e changes\, in\nresponse to continually changing inputs and resources. Dis
tributed intelligence has many potential benefits for us by being able to
make small\, light weight decisions in a hierarchical manner.\n
