DESCRIPTION:Subdivision is a powerful modelling technique used in many\nap
plications including computer games and animated films. Subdivision\nschem
es are predominantly based on cubic B-splines and produce smooth\nsurfaces
everywhere. However\, it is known that using an everywhere\nsmooth surfac
e to model sharp features (such as those on mechanical\nparts) results in
poor geometric fits and unwanted undulations.\n\nI will explore and compar
e existing techniques for modelling\n(semi-)sharp features on subdivision
curves and surfaces and outline a\nnovel approach that generalises to arbi
trary degree subdivision and\nany level of (dis)continuity.
