DESCRIPTION:Interacting supernovae and supernova impostors are raising cri
tical new\nquestions about the final phases of massive star evolution. SN
2009ip is the\nepitome of such events\, and one of the most interesting ma
ssive star\nexplosions since SN 1987A. The progenitor is a Luminous Blue V
ariable (LBV)\nstar that has produced multiple\, luminous outbursts of mas
s over the last\nseveral years. I will present photometric and spectroscop
ic coverage of the\nmost recent outburst of this object from 2012 to prese
nt. The data suggest\nthat the source might have finally exploded as a tru
 e supernova. However\,\nseveral peculiar late-time observational character
istics have called the SN\nhypothesis into question\, and these various ob
servational signatures and\ntheir implications will be discussed. The resu
lts have important\nconsequences for our view of pre-SN evolution for mass
 ive stars.\n
