DESCRIPTION:This provocative title doesn’t mean to imply that music teac
 hers are not professional musicians –rather\, the e-portfolio is ideal f
 or this cohort who\, because of professional accreditation standards\, can
  use it to build a folio of their work and thinking over the degree progra
 m.  The teacher trainee is\, therefore\, often the focus of e-portfolio li
 terature.  This seminar presentation\, instead\, focuses attention on some
  of the roles the e-portfolio can play in B. Music programs which aim to p
 roduce professional musicians who will be active in many different careers
  in the community.  In particular it looks at the role of an e-portfolio i
 n three different areas of two Australian university Music programs – gr
 oup performance\, a final year\, capstone\, community and professional pra
 ctice focused unit\, and sound technology.      \n\nDiana Blom is Associat
 e Professor in Music in the School of Humanities and Communication Arts\, 
 University of Western Sydney.  Research interests focus around tertiary mu
 sic education – interpretation\, collaboration\, assessment – and prac
 tice-led research drawn from composing and performing.  A composer\, she h
 as scores published by Wirripang and Orpheus Music.  Music Composition Too
 lbox\, a composition textbook co-authored with Matthew Hindson and Damian 
 Barbeler\, is published by Science Press.  She plays harpsichord and piano
  and is a member of ‘Three in a Boat’\, a trio of voice\, cello and pi
 ano\, which performs contemporary classical repertoire.    \n\nMatthew Hit
 chcock is Head of Music Technology at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith U
 niversity. Current research projects include: sound production for music a
 nd linear and non-linear moving image contexts (film\, animation\, gaming\
 , performance and installation)\; research on higher education\, blended l
 earning\, learning communities\, curriculum and learning environments\; an
 d ongoing recording and multimedia authoring projects within the IMERSD (I
 ntermedia\, Music Education & Research Design) recording studios. Matthew
 ’s national leadership as a teacher in these areas has been recognised b
 y the receipt of a National Carrick Citation for Outstanding Contributions
  to Student Learning and a Griffith Award for Excellence in Teaching. \n
