 , economist at BTG Pactual\, holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge 
 where he lectured in the Department of Land Economy (2004-2011) and was th
 e Adam Smith Fellow in Political Economy at Pembroke College (2009-2011). 
 He is also professor doutor in the department of economics at University o
 f Sao Paulo since 2005. Prior to starting at BTG Pactual he has acted as c
 onsultant for the private sector\, government departments (in Brazil and i
 n the UK) and international agencies (World Bank\, Inter-American Developm
 ent Bank). His research interests include labor and credit markets\, urban
  economics and real estate\, development and environmental economics\, ind
 ustrial clustering and land use in the Amazon region. He is co-editor of t
 he journal Spatial Economic Analysis and fellow of the Regional Studies As
 sociation.  He has published in leading academic journals including Land E
 conomics\, Journal of Regional Science\, Urban Studies\, and Development a
 nd Change. He has also written 2 books and contributed to a number of edit
 ed volumes.
