DESCRIPTION:Dr David J Harper (Head of University Relations in EMEA for Go
 ogle) will provide an overview of Google’s approach to building relation
 ships with universities which focuses on growing and sustaining the resear
 ch base\, support for teaching and learning\, and outreach into communitie
 s through partnerships.\n\nGoogle is a bottom-up\, engineer-led company an
 d Dr Harper will describe how this has influenced the design of their fund
 ing and support programmes.  He will also provide an overview of these pro
 grammes\, and show how these play out in practice through a small number o
 f case studies.\n\nPlease note that this is not primarily a talk about res
 earch at Google.\n
