behavior of disease-related pathways - Ina Koch (Frankfurt University)

DESCRIPTION:Petri nets represent a mathematical formalism to model systems
with\nconcurrent processes. Since the early 90ies\, more and more applica
tions\nin biological and medical research has been published using Petri n
ets\nfor modeling biochemical systems. That comprises metabolism\, signal\
ntransduction and gene regulation at different levels of abstraction and\n
hybrid models that combine these network types.\n\nThe talk will introduce
Petri nets in an intuitive way using biochemical\nexamples. We will expla
in and discuss the application to explore\nmechanisms in processes of the
dystrophin-downstream pathway which is\nrelated to Duchenne Muscular Dystr
 ophy.
