DESCRIPTION:For our June event we are delighted to welcome Professor Dame 
 Athene Margaret Donald\, whose blog regularly provides such stimulating fo
 od for thought on the subject of gender and science/academia\, among other
  topics.\n\nAthene’s career has taken her to some very unexpected places
  (though not particularly of a geographical kind) and provided a host of o
 pportunities and challenges. Following the award of the 2009 L’Oreal/UNE
 SCO FWIS Laureate she has been given many chances to talk to general audie
 nces\, including through mainstream media. \n\nMore recently\, Athene’s 
 ventures into blogging and social media more generally have also opened up
  new routes for outreach and/or public engagement. She believes these rout
 es can serve to raise the profile of and for women in science.\n\nCome and
