DESCRIPTION:The course starts with a brief review of a number of experimen
 ts on\ndewetting and evaporating thin films/drops of simple and complex\nl
 iquids. Then the concept of a gradient dynamics description of the\nevolut
 ion of interface-dominated films and drops on solid substrates\nis introdu
 ced starting with the case of a single layer of simple\nnon-volatile liqui
 d\, and advancing towards the formulation for films\nof mixtures.\nThe sec
 ond part of the course uses the obtained models to investigate\ndepinning 
 transitions and deposition patterns in a number of\ndifferent settings tha
 t can all be described by the introduced\nevolution equations. \nAn extend
