DESCRIPTION:Efficient power control reduces the interference in the whole
network (increases capacity) and at the same time reduces the transmission
power (increases battery lifetime of the mobile). Power control is the mo
st important element in DS-CDMA\, in particular on the uplink because many
users access and use the same frequency and bandwidth at the same time\,
there is interference between the users. In the given seminar\, As spreadi
ng and modulation have been explained\, the following basic aspects of Po
wer Control in Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) ar
 e discussed below: Open-loop power control\, Inner-loop power control\, In
ner-loop (slow) power control\, Uplink power control\, Downlink power cont
rol\, a possible algorithm for initial power calculations.\n\nLela Mirtskh
ulava is currently an Associate Professor\, Interim Chair of Technical Inf
ormatics at the Department of Computer Sciences\, Faculty of Exact and Nat
ural Sciences\, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University\, Georgia. Sh
e has been Roaming & Interconnections Operations Senior Engineer in the Co
re Networks Section\, Department of ICT \, Geocell LLC (2G/3G GSM operator
 ) since 2000.
