DESCRIPTION:Transport PDEs\, alternatively referred to as pure delays\, wh
en suitably interconnected among one another or with ODEs\, can model a nu
mber of processes involving fluids and flexible structures\, including ext
rusion in 3D printing\, engine cooling in ships\, thermoacoustic instabili
ties in combustors\, aeroelasticity/flutter\, slugging in oil risers\, sti
ck-slip instability in deep oil drilling\, and cantilever twist dynamics i
n atomic force microscopes. I will present a sequence of control designs f
or such systems that grow in structural complexity from a simple delay-int
o-an-ODE cascade structure to multiple hyperbolic PDEs with domain-wide di
 stributed feedback interconnections.
