DESCRIPTION:This seminar focuses on the search for weakly produced supersy
mmetric particles (particularly charginos and sleptons) in the ATLAS exper
iment at the LHC using events with exactly two reconstructed leptons. Thi
s analysis was first performed using the 2011 dataset and an extension bas
ed on 2012 data was performed earlier this year. The motivation for such s
earches will be presented\, and the analysis technique outlined. Because o
f the low signal cross sections for weak production processes\, high backg
round suppression is required\, and in both the 2011 and 2012 analyses the
sensitivity is driven by signal regions based on the "stransverse mass va
riable"\, which will be described in the seminar. Finally\, the results of
the latest search will be presented and discussed.
