DESCRIPTION:Newton-Okounkov bodies are convex bodies associated to line bu
 ndles that describe the vanishing behaviour of all sections along a certai
 n flag of subvarieties. As such they also have numerous applications outsi
 de of algebraic geometry\, for instance in representation theory or combin
 atorics. The purpose of this talk is to study interesting functions on New
 ton-Okounkov bodies\, and describe some connections to classical algebraic
  geometry and Diophantine approximation.
