DESCRIPTION:The north-south divide is one of England’s most powerful and
  enduring myths: one country geographically\, politically\, and culturally
  separated into beautiful south and grim north. In this talk\, the evidenc
 e for a divide in health between north and south will be presented\, along
  with explanations including geology\, climate\, lifestyle\, culture\, hea
 lthcare\, politics and economics. Exceptions to the narrative of northern 
 disadvantage and southern advantage will be also discussed\, and some hope
  for recovery in the north may even be offered.
