DESCRIPTION:In addition to the genes they pass on to their offspring\, mot
hers and fathers can influence the development of their offspring via pare
ntal effects. For example\, offspring behavior can be affected by maternal
hormones deposited in eggs or the parental care provided during early dev
elopment. In my talk\, I will describe how the behavior and survival of th
reespined stickleback offspring are influenced by the stress experienced b
y mothers\, the care provided by fathers and the interaction between these
  maternal and paternal effects.
