DESCRIPTION:Compositionality can be found almost everywhere one looks. It 
 is\n           manifest in as diverse a range of entities as objects aroun
 d us\, the\n           languages we use\, and even our actions and interac
 tions with the\n           world. My work involves exploring and exploitin
 g the general nature\n           of such compositionality\, often across m
 ultiple modalities\, to solve\n           deep and complex problems in per
 ception. I demonstrate such ability\n           in a variety of domains in
 cluding part-based structures\, board\n           games\, and activity rec
 ognition. I also show evidence for a\n           particular kind of compos
 itionality in how the brain perceives the\n           world\, lending furt
 her credence to the ubiquity and utility of\n           compositionality.\
