DESCRIPTION:Frank Stajano\n\nPasswords are by far the most widely used met
 hod for user authentication: everyone who uses a computer is familiar with
  them and with the frustrating usage rules imposed by the pedantic securit
 y people. Regular human beings hate passwords and the associated frustrati
 on. And it's widely acknowledged that passwords\, as they're used in pract
 ice\, aren't even very secure. So why are we still using them more than ev
 er?\n\nIn this presentation we'll understand why passwords fail\, what oth
 er ingenious alternatives have been proposed\, and why we are still stuck 
 with passwords today. Then we'll see how the Pico project\, currently in d
 evelopment here at the Computer Lab\, addresses the problem with a disrupt
 ive long-term approach.\n
