DESCRIPTION:Emeritus Professor Neil Dempster and Professor Greer Johnson (
Griffith University\, Brisbane) are our guests at the next LfL Seminar in
October.\n\nInside schools\, the impact of principals’ leadership is kno
wn to be second only to quality teaching in impacting improvement in stude
nt learning. This seminar explains the processes and findings from three A
ustralian research and development projects that have built on the finding
s of the Leadership for Learning: Carpe Vitam Project (McBeath et al 2002
-2005).\n\nThe three projects focus on principals leading teachers and oth
ers to improve student literacy. Generated from a common set of values and
a Leadership for Learning Framework or Blueprint\, they confirm the need
for principals to take a hands-on approach to literacy improvement in thei
r schools\, not necessarily in terms of becoming literacy experts themselv
es\, but certainly in becoming knowledgeable about what works\, so as to l
ead the staff and students to sustainable improvement.\n\nRoom GS5\, Donal
d McIntyre Building\, Faculty of Education\n\nAll welcome. Free to attend.
Wine and nibbles served.\nPlease email lfl@educ.cam.ac.uk to register.\n\
