SUMMARY:Hydrogen Bonded Networks at Metal Surfaces: Molecular Orientation
and Overlayer Interactions - Glenn Jones

DESCRIPTION:Simple organic molecules adsorbed at metal surfaces are the su
bject of intense research activity\, not least because computational metho
ds and surface science techniques have progressed far enough to tackle the
se systems\, and provide us with 'visions beyond diatomics'. Through the s
tudy of model systems\, first principles understanding of structure bondin
g and reactivity can be gained. This talk will take one molecular property
of these systems\, namely their propensity to form hydrogen bonded networ
ks\, and show how applying a topological analysis of the electronic charge
density one can gain insight into this ubiquitous phenomena.
