DESCRIPTION:Underground laboratories are having a key role in understandin
 g rock properties\, especially with regard to groundwater flows and compos
 itions\, solute transport\, and rock mechanics\, that impact on the feasib
 ility and long term safety of geological disposal of nuclear wastes. In th
 is talk\, I'll focus on a selection of these facilities\, in Sweden\, Swit
 zerland and France\, and will talk about their significance for geological
  disposal and more widely in geoscience.
