DESCRIPTION:We were able to create an anomalously high rogue wave splash i
n a water wave channel with a convergence involving a bore and solitons\,
and we could control it. Unexpectedly\, this man-made extreme or rogue wav
e is related to rogue waves in multidirectional seas\, solutions of the KP
 -equation\, tsunami run-up into coastal valleys\, and certain wave-energy
devices\, as we will show. Some steps towards the mathematical and numeric
al modeling of this bore-soliton-splash will be discussed\, including accu
rate conservative discretizations of water waves\, a theoretical model for
bores in dispersive wave models\, and a single-phase mixture theory for a
ir- and water in an approximate model for intermittent wave breaking.
